Admission​

Admission Policy

EduGlobal College provides ESL programs and hence admits students in this area. Only those students will be admitted to programs, who satisfy admission requirements of the program. EduGlobal College admits students on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis whereby students must satisfy all admissions requirements of the program.

Admission Procedure:

  • 1. The institution receptionist refers all inquiries to the onsite administrator.
  • 2. The onsite administrator meets with the prospective student to discuss the program of interest and makes sure students meet all eligibility requirements of the program. If the student is undecided or unclear about levels of the ESL program, the onsite administrator gives the prospective student information about all levels of the program so that the student can make a decision. All policies of EduGlobal College and program outlines are given to students before any decisions are made.
  • 3. Once the student has decided on a program level, the onsite administrator reviews the admission criteria for the program with the student to ensure that he/she meets all of the requirements. The admission requirement cannot be waived either by the institute or the applicant.
  • 4. The onsite administrator obtains evidence (e.g., transcript, proof of id, proof of age, etc.) from the student that he/she meets all of the program’ program’s admission criteria and places the evidence submitted by student in the student file.
  • 5. After receiving evidence that the prospective student meets all of the admission requirements, the onsite administrator prepares a Student Enrolment Contract and meets with the prospective student to review the policies that will affect the student during his/her completion of the program of study and to review the contract. If, after understanding their rights and responsibilities, the prospective student wishes to sign the contract, the onsite administrator arranges for the prospective student to meet with the Senior Education Administrator or Director.
  • 6. The SEA or Director meets with the prospective student to discuss his/her educational goals and commitment to completing the program of study. Financial arrangements for payment of tuition and other fees are also discussed.
  • 7. If the SEA or Director and the prospective student agree on a financial arrangement, they sign the contract and the school delivers a copy of the signed contract, along with a copy of all policies as well as program outlines to the student.
  • 8. At this stage a student file is created. A student number is assigned to each student and all evidence is kept in the student file.
  • 9. Each student file must contain below items:
    • Signed Student enrollment Contract
    • All Admission requirement evidence
    • Student photo id/evidence of legal status in Canada (student visa copy in case of international student or PR card or passport copy for resident of Canada)
    • Fee receipt
In case of the class being full, the student will be placed on the waitlist and will be allowed to join the course if/when a seat becomes available.  
Code of Conduct​

Code of Conduct Policy

EduGlobal College expects students to meet and adhere to a code of conduct while completing a program of study.

Principles

The Code of Conduct that students are expected to follow include:
  • Attend the school in accordance with the Attendance Policy.
  • Treat all students and staff with respect and school property for learning propose only
  • Refrain from any disruptive or offensive classroom behaviour.
  • Refrain from cheating or plagiarism in completing class assignments.
  • Refrain from bringing weapons of any kind (i.e., knives, guns) to school.
  • Refrain from bringing any alcohol or any prohibited mood-altering substances to the school.
  • Refrain from making inappropriate remarks concerning another student or staff’s ethnicity, race, religion or sexual orientation.
  • Any other conduct which is determined to be detrimental or damaging to the other students, staff members or the school.
  • Seven days of unauthorised absence may lead to termination.
Any of the following, if substantiated, will result in immediate dismissal without a warning letter or probationary period:
  • Sexual assault / harassment/ discrimination
  • Physical assault or other violent acts committed on or off campus against any student.
  • Verbal abuse or threats
  • Vandalism of school property
  • Theft

Students who do not meet the expected code of conduct will be subject to the dismissal procedures, which may include immediate dismissal from the institution depending on the severity of the misconduct.

Concerns related to a student’s conduct shall be referred to the Onsite administrator or Director, to process in accordance with this Policy.

Plagiarism & Cheating Policy

EduGlobal College considers plagiarism and cheating to be a serious academic offence. Plagiarism and cheating obliterate academic integrity and honesty, which is considered the essential part of growth and acquisition of knowledge. Plagiarism and cheating compromises the values of EduGlobal College, and is unfair for those students who pursue education with honesty and integrity. Academic dishonesty is not tolerated within EduGlobal College.

Plagiarism is a process of copying another person’s written work or idea and claiming it as your own.Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying written material from any source. (E.g., books, images, internet, magazines, textiles, etc.).
  • Plagiarism ranges from copying an entire portion of a written material or small portions of a written material without the source acknowledgement.
  • Submitting homework, written papers, projects, exams, lab assignments, software, or copyrighted material as your own material without reference to the original creator of the material.

Cheating is considered to be academic dishonesty. Cheatings includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using aids, such as textbooks, books, internet, notes, photocopied materials, cell phones, which have not been expressly permitted by the instructor during an assignment, exam or project.
  • Copying written material from books, images, internet, magazines, textiles or someone else’s work for your own advantage or another’s.
  • Theft or solicitation of another student’s assignment, paper, exam or other academic material.
  • Helping or attempting to help another student when not told to by the instructor.Students need to follow EduGlobal College Code of Conduct as illustrated within the policy and must contact the on-site administrator if they have any questions about any of the schools.
Complaint​

Complaint Policy

EduGlobal College provides an opportunity for students to make complaints in a fair and equitable manner. This policy applies to all EduGlobal College students who are currently enrolled or were enrolled prior to submitting their concern to the on-site administrator. Any complaints received verbally or written are dealt by the on-site administrator. When a complaint involves another person, the on-site administrator sets up a meeting with both concerned persons separately.

The on-site administrator makes note of meetings with both persons and tries to resolve it, in case it is not, the dispute resolution policy will come into effect. When a complaint is about a service, on-site administrator makes written notes and issues specific notices to concerned staff so that complaint is fully addressed. If a complaint is regarding on-site administrator or SEA, a complaint can be filed to the Director. All stakeholders of EduGlobal College must comply with the code of conduct policy

Deferral​

Deferral Policy

If you have applied and cannot attend the semester in which you are enrolled, you may request a deferral within the same academic year. Our academic year runs from September (Fall) – to January (Winter) – to May (Summer).

  • Once students have been admitted, they may defer their start date for up to one (1) year from the date of the acceptance into the program.
  • Students can defer their offer of admission to the next available intake by submitting the deferral form and any supporting documents.
  • Deferring your offer of admission does not guarantee a seat in the preferred intake and may subject you to receive an alternate offer.
  • Not all deferral applications will be approved.

Deferral Deadlines

Two weeks before the start date of the semester.

Deferral Conditions

  • You must have accepted the offer of admission and paid the deposit.
  • You must submit the Admissions Deferral Form along with any supporting documents.

Requesting a Deferral

  • If you applied with the help of an education consultant or agent affiliated with EduGlobal College, the consultant or agent must request the deferral.
  • If you applied directly without the help of an education consultant or agent, please email the completed deferral request form to admissions@eduglobalcollege.com
Dismissal​

Deferral Policy

EduGlobal College expects students to comply with the code of conduct of the institution.Students who do not meet the expected code of conduct will be subject to the procedures outlined below which may include immediate dismissal from the institution depending on the severity of the misconduct.

EduGlobal College expects students to comply with all policies, procedures of this college.

The policy applies to all EduGlobal College students who are currently enrolled students in all Programs and courses.

Any of the following, if substantiated, will result in immediate dismissal without a warning letter or probationary period:

  • Sexual assault / harassment/ discrimination/bullying, physical assault or other violent acts committed on or off campus against any student, verbal abuse or threats, vandalism of school property, theft.

Concerns related to a student’s conduct shall be referred to the On-site administrator or Director to process in accordance with this Policy.

Students can be dismissed based on academic performance or attendance. If a student fails to inform the instructor or the college regarding his/her long absence, it will be considered as unauthorised absence and disciplinary action will be taken. Seven days of unauthorised absence may lead to termination/dismissal

All communication related to dismissal will be in writing and a copy will be placed in the student file.

Procedure:

  1. All concerns relating to student misconduct shall be reported to the on-site administrator. Concerns may be brought by staff, students or the public.
  2. All reporting must be in writing.
  3. The on-site administrator will arrange to meet with the student to discuss the concern(s) within 5 school days of receiving the complaint. If the alleged conduct is of such a serious nature that an immediate dismissal may be warranted, the on-site administrator will meet with the student as soon as practicable
  4. Following the meeting with the student, the on-site administrator will conduct whatever further enquiry or investigation is necessary to determine whether the concerns are substantiated.
  5. Any necessary inquiries or investigations shall be completed within 5 school days of the initial meeting with the student.
  6. The on-site administrator will meet with the student and do one of the following:
    1. Determine that the concern(s) were not substantiated;
    2. Determine that the concern(s) were substantiated, in whole or in part, and either:
      1. Give the student a warning setting out the consequences of further misconduct;
      2. Set a probationary period with appropriate conditions; or
      3. Recommend that the student be dismissed from the Institution.
  7. The on-site administrator will prepare a written summary of the determination. A copy shall be given to the student and the original will be placed in the student file.
  8. If the student is issued a warning or placed on probation, the on-site administrator and the student both sign the written warning or probationary conditions, and the student is given a copy. The original document is placed in the student’s file.
  9. If on-site administrator is absent, the Director will be the next person to whom this can be reported, and the Director will follow all procedures as listed above.
  10. If the recommendation is to dismiss the student, the Director of the school will meet with the student to dismiss him/her from study at the school. The Director of the school will deliver a letter of dismissal to the student and a calculation of refund due or tuition owing,depending on the status of the student’s financial account with the school.
  11. If a refund is due to the student, the Director will ensure that a cheque is forwarded to the student within 30 days of the dismissal.
  12. If the student owes tuition or other fees to the school, the Director will undertake the collection of the amount owing.
  13. All records will be kept in the student file, all concerned staff and instructors would be notified.
Dispute Resolution​

Dispute Resolution Policy

EduGlobal College provides an opportunity for students to resolve disputes of a serious nature in a fair and equitable manner. The policy applies to all EduGlobal College students who are currently enrolled or were enrolled prior to submitting their concern.

All disputes or grievances will be dealt efficiently, fairly and without bias. All parties should try to resolve issues informally through discussion in a cool and calm manner avoiding rude
and unkind remarks or personal attacks. If this does not work, then a more formal approach
will become necessary that will provide a fair and reasonable mechanism for resolution.

  1. This policy governs complaints from students of EduGlobal College and any aspect of its
    operations. Students will not be subject to any form of retaliation as a result of filing a
    complaint.
  2. All student complaints must be made in writing.
  3. The student must provide the written complaint to the on-site administrator or SEA who
    is responsible for making determinations in respect of complaints. If the on-site administrator or SEA is absent or is named in a complaint, the student must submit the
    complaint to the Director.
  4. The student making the complaint may be represented by an agent or a lawyer.
  5. If the student is or was enrolled in an approved program, is dissatisfied with the
    determination, and has been misled by the institution regarding any significant aspect of
    that program, he or she may file a complaint with the Private Career Training Institutions
    Branch (www.privatetraininginstitutions.gov.bc.ca).

The process by which the student complaint will be handled is as follows:

  1. When a concern arises, the student should address the concern with the staff member most directly involved. If the student, after waiting for the time indicated by the staff member, is not satisfied with the outcome at this level, the student should put his/her concern in writing and deliver it to the SEA or on-site administrator
  2. The SEA or on-site administrator will arrange a meeting with the student to discuss the concern and desired resolution within 5 school days of receiving the student’s written concern, or as soon as practicable.
  3. Following the meeting with the student, the SEA or on-site administrator will conduct whatever enquiries and/or investigations are necessary and appropriate to determine
    whether the student’s concerns are substantiated in whole or in part. Those inquiries
    may involve further discussion(s) with the student either individually or with
    appropriate personnel.
  4. The necessary enquiries and / or investigations shall be completed no later than 10 school days following the receipt of the student’s written concerns.
  5. The SEA or on-site administrator shall perform one of the following within 10 days of receiving the student’s written concerns:
    1. Determine that the student’s concerns are not substantiated; or
    2. Determine that the student’s concerns are substantiated in whole or in part;
    3. Determine that the student’s concerns are frivolous and vexatious.
  6. The student and the institution’s personnel involved shall receive a written summary of the above determination. A copy of all documentation relating to every student’s complaint should be signed by all parties. A copy shall be given to the student and
    original will be placed in the student file.
  7. If it has been determined that the student’s concerns are substantiated in whole or in part the SEA or on-site administrator shall include a proposed resolution of the
    substantiated concern(s).
  8. If the student is not satisfied with the determination of the SEA or on-site administrator, the student must advise the SEA or on-site administrator within 48
    hours of being informed of the determination. The SEA or on-site administrator will
    immediately refer the matter to the Director. The Director will review the matter and meet with the student within 5 school days.
  9. The Director shall either confirm or vary the determination of the SEA or on-site
    administrator. At this point the School’s Dispute Resolution Process will be considered exhausted.
  10. All disputes will be recorded and kept by the college for 7 years, including copies of
    all documentation.
Grade Appeal​

Grade Appeal Policy

EduGlobal College provides an opportunity for students to resolve grades appeals in a fair and equitable manner. This policy applies to all EduGlobal College students who are currently enrolled or were enrolled prior to submitting their concern in writing to the senior education administrator.

Grades for course work are compiled at the end of each chapter or unit from the combination of assessments taken. Assessments include projects/assignments, class tests, presentations, participation in class activities, and evaluations of appropriate competences. Each corresponding assessment will be assigned a score. The individual scores will be aggregated to arrive at a final grade.

The minimum acceptable mark on any work is 50%. Only grades received on midterm or final assessments may be appealed. Grades received for assignments or weekly quizzes may not be appealed.

Grades may be appealed at the following times:

  • When any course work or assessment is returned by the instructor, a student may appeal the marks given by the instructor. If successful, the instructor will change the mark on the records to calculate the final grade.
  • When the exam results are given, students may appeal the grade with the instructor directly. If successful, the grade will be changed in the student’s file records. If it is unsuccessful, they can send a written request to SEA. SEA then arranges a recheck exam of students from different instructors. The SEA will make a decision based on rechecking the result of the same exam by another instructor.
  • Grades can be appealed twice on the same exam, if it remains the same, students cannot appeal further. When the final grades are posted, students may appeal the grades with the instructor or SEA. On review and if merited, the grades will be changed in the student records and notified to students.
Grading​

Grading Policy

At EduGlobal College, the grading structure will vary from course to course in the program and will be mentioned in course outline or class handouts or in the first lecture of course as decided by the instructor.

In general, below grading structure is followed at all levels of ESL programs:

At completion of the program, the student will be awarded an official transcript as well as Certificate for the program they are enrolled in and have completed all graduation requirements.

Transcript or Certificate reissue

In case any student who lost or misplaced his/her transcripts or certificate, can apply in writing to EduGlobal College stating their program name, start date and end date of programs and/or explaining the reason for re-issue transcript/certificate. Below fee will be applicable for re-issue:

Health and Safety​

Deferral Policy

EduGlobal College is committed to ensuring there is a safe working and learning environment at college premises for all students and employees.

Principles

EduGlobal College is committed to ensure that every employee and student at EduGlobal College is aware of their rights regarding health and safety and that these rights are integral to the task of conducting business at the college.

All employees of the College

  • are entitled to a safe worksite and harm-free work environment
  • have the responsibility to take reasonable care in the performance of their job to protect themselves, their coworkers and the general public from illness or harm
  • have the right and the responsibility to refuse unsafe work, if a worker suspects a (reasonable) hazard exists, to immediately report hazards and unsafe conditions or behaviour on the worksite to on site administrator or Director in writing.
  • have the right to participate in the decision-making process regarding safety input and initiatives at college
  • Have the right to notify any hazard or risk to onsite administrator or Director for immediate attention.

Commitment to Safety

The management of EduGlobal College is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and students.

EduGlobal College is committed to operating practices that protect the wellbeing of personnel, equipment, facilities, property and the general public, and which comply with the general and environmental legislation by which the institution is bound. The impact of business activity on the environment will be assessed and avoided – or minimized – wherever possible.

Employees and associates are encouraged to proactively seek ways to improve business practices and operating procedures, and to further minimize the risk of loss.

Recognizing the need for efficient and productive business operations, the EduGlobal College will communicate and enforce the policies it has adopted. The avoidance of loss, damage, illness and injury improves employee morale and employee/student confidence hence EduGlobal College is committed to provide a healthy and safe environment for all employees and students.

First Aid Equipment

  • The first aid equipment is stored in a secure location on the premises, which is known to designated staff members i.e., on site administrator of EduGlobal College. The equipment of all First Aid Kits are maintained by and inspected by on site administrators.
  • Students requiring first aid will report to the instructor or at the reception, and the on-site administrator will decide whether to refer the student to a hospital or call an ambulance if required.

Earthquake Drill

The EduGlobal College takes part annually on the third Thursday in October, province-wide in the “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” drill.

The basic earthquake drill – Drop to the ground, Cover (under a sturdy table or desk), and Hold On (to legs of desk until shaking stops) and count the duration of the earthquake and once it stops count to 60 for safety.

Announcements, posters are put across the institute premises with details regarding upcoming drills. All students and employees are expected to follow the instructions and be part of the Earthquake drill. If any student or employee had special needs during drill must notify onsite administrators at least 1 week before the actual drill date. All possible arrangements will be made for such requests on priority basis.

Fire Safety

Onsite administrator ensures compliance with all Fire Prevention regulations including mandated limitations on materials, safe storage of flammable and combustible liquids, exit capacity calculations, and the use of electrical equipment.

Onsite administrator will implement steps required for Emergency Preparedness including:

  • Identification of a School Fire Emergency Team and training of fire extinguishers
  • Posting information on exit routes from all rooms in the school in order to show the nearest exit in case of fire.
  • Ensuring that no entrance or emergency exit doors are blocked, barred or locked,
  • Making sure all fire alarms are checked periodically, with the property manager.
Instructor Evaluation

Instructor Evaluation Policy

EduGlobal College ensures that all instructors provide best services to students and college. In order to achieve this, instructors are evaluated on a yearly basis. This is administered by the SEA or the Director if required.

An instructor is evaluated based on pre-set areas-of-delivery of content, classroom interaction, professional goals etc. A set time is set up with the instructor and an interview is conducted by SEA to complete the Instructor evaluation form. Instructors are requested to provide a recent resume/CV, any updated qualification or certification copy and professional development activity (if any).

All concerns of the instructor are being noted down along with discussion on student feedback received for that instructor. Student feedback is only shown to the instructor after the final result of students is already submitted. SEA makes note of any planned professional development activity and feedback of this review. Instructor is notified about the next tentative review date.

Sexual Misconduct​

Policy on Sexual Misconduct

1. Statement of purpose and intent of this policy

EduGlobal College (EGC) is committed to the prevention of and appropriate response to any sexual misconduct.

2. Scope and Application

What is sexual misconduct?

According to the Sexual Violence and Misconduct Policy Act, sexual misconduct includes:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Exploitation
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Stalking
  • Indecent Exposure
  • Voyeurism
  • The distribution of a sexually explicit photograph or video of a person to one or more people
  • The attempt to commit an act of sexual misconduct
  • The threat to commit an act of sexual misconduct

This policy addresses sexual misconduct involving students at IH, as required by the Sexual Violence and Misconduct Policy Act.

This policy is applied to sexual misconduct between:

  • Student and student
  • Staff and student
  • Visitors and student
  • Any other person and student
  • Staff and staff

Sexual misconduct under this policy is not limited to the EduGlobal College campus or the student residences offered by EduGlobal College but can include events, excursions or any out of class activities.

3. Definitions

a) Consent

An agreement to engage in a sexual activity. It must be fully voluntary, clearly communicated and ongoing. All sexual activities that are engaged in must be consented to: if there is consent given for a particular sexual activity, this consent does not automatically extend to other sexual activities. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, including during a sexual activity that had previously been consented to.

b) Sexual Assault

Sexual assault is defined as any form of sexual contact without both parties’ voluntary consent. Sexual assault is not limited to non-consensual intercourse, it can also include non-consensual fondling, touching, or kissing.

Section 265 of the Criminal Code of Canada (“Criminal Code”) outlines the offences of assault and sexual assault as follows:

A person commits an “assault” when:

  • without the consent of another person, he applies force intentionally to that other person, directly or indirectly;
  • he attempts or threatens, by an act or gesture, to apply force to another person, if he has, or causes that other person to believe on reasonable grounds that he has, present ability to affect his purpose;or
  • while openly wearing or carrying a weapon or an imitation thereof, he accosts or impedes another person or begs.

c) Sexual Exploitation

Every person commits an offence who is in a position of trust or authority towards a young person, who is a person with whom the young person is in a relationship of dependency or who is in a relationship with a young person that is exploitative of the young person, and who

  • for a sexual purpose, touches, directly or indirectly, with a part of the body or with an object, any part of the body of the young person; or
  • for a sexual purpose, invites, counsels or incites a young person to touch, directly or indirectly, with a part of the body or with an object, the body of any person, including the body of the person who so invites,counsels or incites and the body of the young person.

d) Sexual harassment

Unwanted communications or actions that are sexual in nature and are offensive, intimidating or humiliating.It can include verbal, written or visual communication. Sexual harassment includes unwanted touching, offensive jokes, sexual request, and verbal abuse. Sexual harassment is a type of sexual discrimination and falls under the Human Rights Law.

e) Stalking

Criminal harassment, more commonly known as stalking, can be defined as harassing behaviour including repeatedly following, communicating with or watching over one’s dwelling home. This sort of behaviour is against the law. It is not a sign of love; it is about power and abuse.

f) Indecent exposure

The deliberate exposure in public or in view of the general public by a person of a portion or portions of his or her body, in circumstances where the exposure is contrary to local moral or other standards of appropriate behavior.

g) Voyeurism

The observation – including by mechanical or electronic means – or visual recording (including photographs and film recording) of a person who is in a circumstance that gives rise to reasonable expectation of privacy

h) The distribution of sexually explicit photographs or video of a person to one or more people other than the person in the photograph or video without the consent of the person in the photograph or video and with the intent to distress the person in the photograph or video.

4. Responding to Complaints and Reports of Sexual Misconduct

  • A Complaint of sexual misconduct is different from a Report of sexual misconduct. A person may choose to disclose or complain of sexual misconduct without making a formal report. A Report is a formal notification of an incident of sexual misconduct to someone at the institution accompanied by a request for action.
  • The process for making a Complaint of sexual misconduct is as follows:
    1. The victim discloses sexual misconduct to a staff member of their choice (e.g., teacher, counselor).
    2. The EGC staff member will direct this complaint to a member (not involved with the complaint) of the Senior Management team.
    3. The member of the Senior Management team will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within 48 hours. The members of the Senior Management team will check if they wish to make a formal report.
    4. If they do not wish to make a formal report, the complaint will be recorded.
  • The process for responding to a Complaint of sexual misconduct is as follows:
    1. Protective measures (e.g., moving the student to a different accommodation, changing class,ensuring there is no contact between the victim and the alleged perpetrator) will be taken.
    2. Confidential support and counselling will be made available from an IH Staff member
    3. Referral to professional support and counselling may be given.
  • The process for making a Report of sexual misconduct is as follows:
    1. The victim discloses sexual misconduct to a staff member of their choice (e.g., teacher, counselor).
    2. The EGC staff member will direct this complaint to a member (not involved with the complaint) of the Senior Management team.
    3. The member of the Senior Management team will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within 48 hours.
    4. If the victim chooses to make a Report, either a written or recorded statement will be taken by a member of the senior management team. Private translation can be provided if necessary.
    5. The member of the senior management team will provide a written response within 72 hours with confirmation of follow-up steps.
    6. The victim will be given assistance in contacting law enforcement and help in reporting the matter to authorities.
    7. Protective measures (e.g., moving the student to a different accommodation, changing class,ensuring there is no contact between the victim and the alleged perpetrator) will be taken.
    8. Guidance of law authorities will be followed by the institution and the institution will assist the victim with professional support and counselling.

5. It is contrary to this policy for an institution to retaliate, engage in reprisals or threaten to retaliate in relation to a Complaint or a Report.

6. Any processes undertaken pursuant to this policy will be based on the principles of administrative fairness. All parties involved will be treated with dignity and respect.

7. All information related to a Complaint or Report is confidential and will not be shared without the written consent of the parties, subject to the following exceptions:

  • If an individual is at imminent risk of severe or life-threatening self-harm.
  • If an individual is at imminent risk of harming another.

Statement of Student Rights

Eduglobal College is certified with the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training

Before you enrol at a certified private training institution, you should be aware of your rights and responsibilities.

You have the right to be treated fairly and respectfully by the institution.

You have the right to a student enrolment contract that includes the following information:

  • amount of tuition and any additional fee for your program
  • refund policy
  • if your program includes a work experience, the requirements to participate in the work experience and the geographic area where it will be provided
  • whether the program was approved by PTIB or does not require approval.

Make sure you read the contract before signing. The institution must provide you with a signed copy

You have the right to access the institution’s dispute resolution process and to be protected against retaliation for making a complaint.

You have the right to make a claim to PTIB for a tuition refund if:

  • your institution ceased to hold a certificate before you completed an approved program
  • you were misled about a significant aspect of your approved program.

You must file the claim within one year of completing, being dismissed or withdrawing from your program.

EDUGLOBAL COLLEGE REFUND POLICY (Approved Programs)
Circumstances when Refund Payable Amount of Refund
Before program start date, institution receives a notice of withdrawal (applies to all students)
  • No later than seven days after student signed the enrolment contract, and
  • Before the program start date.
100% tuition and all related fees,other than application fee. Relatedfees include: administrative fees,application fees, assessment fees,and fees charged for textbooks or other course materials.
  • At least 30 days before the later of:
    1. The program start date in the most recent Letter of Acceptance (international students)
    2. The program start date in the enrollment contract.
Institution may retain up to 10% of tuition, to a maximum of $1,000.Institutions must refund fees paid for course materials if not provided to the student.
  • More than seven days after the student and institution signed the enrolment contract, and
  • Less than 30 days before the later of:
    1. The program start date in the most recent Letter of Acceptance (international students)
    2. The program start date in the enrollment contract.
Institution may retain up to 20% of tuition, to a maximum of $1,300.Institutions must refund fees paid for course materials if not provided to the student.
After program start date, institution provides a notice of dismissal or receives a notice of withdrawal (applies to all students, except those enrolled in a program delivered solely by distance education)
  • After the program start date, and up to and including 10% of instruction hours have been provided.
Institution may retain up to 30% of tuition.
Institutions must refund fees paid for course materials if not provided to the student.
  • After the program start date, and after more than 10%, but before 30% of instruction hours, have been provided.
Institution may retain up to 50% of tuition.
Institutions must refund fees paid for course materials if not provided to the student.
Student does not attend program – “no-show” (applies to all students except those enrolled in a program delivered solely by distance education):
  • Students do not attend the first 30% of the program.
Institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition.
Institutions must refund fees paid for course materials if not provided to the student.
Institution receives a refusal of study permit (applies to international students requiring a study permit):
  • Before 30% of instruction hours would have been provided, had the student started the program on the later of the following:
    1. The program start date in the most recent Letter of Acceptance
    2. The program start date in the enrolment contract.
  • Student has not requested additional Letter(s) of Acceptance.
100% tuition and all related fees,other than application fee.
After the program start date, student withdraws or is dismissed (applies to students enrolled in a program delivered solely by distance education):
  • Student completed up to 30% of the program.
Institution may retain up to 30% of the tuition.
Institutions must refund fees paid for course materials if not provided to the student.
  • Students completed more than 30% but less than 50% of the program (based on evaluation provided to students).
Institution may retain up to 50% of the tuition.
Institutions must refund fees paid for course materials if not provided to the student.
Student enrolled in a program without having met the admission requirements for the program
  • If the student did not misrepresent the student’s knowledge or skills when applying for admission, the registrar orders the institution to refund tuition and fees.

Institution does not provide a work experience
  • The institution fails to provide the work experience within 30 days of the contract end date, unless the registrar determines the institution was prevented from doing so by circumstances beyond its control.

Institutions must pay the tuition or fee refund within 30 days after receiving notice of withdrawal or refusal of study permit; providing a notice of dismissal, or the date on which the first 30% of the hours of instruction are provided (no-show).

Withdrawal​

Withdrawal Policy

If a student decides to withdraw from a program, he/she must provide a dated, written, notice of withdrawal or can fill the withdrawal form of EduGlobal College and submit it to the on-site administrator or SEA. Refunds are calculated according to EduGlobal College’s Refund Policy and the date on which the written notice of withdrawal is received will be used to determine any refund owing.

An international student whose application for a study permit has been denied is entitled to a refund as per PTA policy manual guidelines. A copy of the denial letter must be provided to EduGlobal College prior to the program start date.

Procedure:

  1. When a student wishes to withdraw from a program, he/she needs to put this in writing and deliver it to the Senior Educational Administrator stating the reason for withdrawal. Students can fill the withdrawal form available at EduGlobal College reception desk.
  2. The Senior Educational Administrator will arrange to meet with the student to discuss it and make a decision within 5 school days of receiving the student’s written request, or as soon as practicable.
  3. Reason of withdrawal is discussed with the student in order to address student concerns, if no common ground is reached, student will be granted withdrawal and refund will be issued as per refund policy of EduGlobal College.
  4. Refunds are calculated according to EduGlobal College Refund Policy and the date on which the written notice of withdrawal is received will be used to determine any refund owing.
  5. All communication related to student withdrawal will be kept in the student file.
